Friends of AMERA

Since AMERA began in 2000 we have constantly relied on the goodwill and assistance of many professionals in Cairo. Many have dedicated their time and efforts toward the establishment of AMERA-Egypt and the assistance of our refugee clients. To encourage others to become involved, and say thank you to those who have done so much, we have begun a group of 'Friends of AMERA,' many of which are doctors who have agreed to see refugee patients. Below are the bios of some of our most outstanding friends.

Dr. Helal Farghaly Helal began his career in the Egyptian police force then received his Bachelor of Law from Ain Shams University and later earned a Master of Law at Assyut University, all before receiving his PhD from Cairo University. Dr Helal has taught at a number of law colleges and institutes and has his own international corporate law practice, one of the largest firms in Cairo. He has kindly offered the services of his office to assit refugees by registering marriages, divorces, and helping parents obtain birth certificates for their children.

Dr Aiman Abdel Wahab specializes in crano/facial reconstruction surgery.

Dr Basel Ebeid specializes in gastroenterology.

Dr Ali El Garem is an ear, nose and throat doctor who sees clients at El Garem hospital.

Dr Marwa specializes in dermatology.

Dr. Mohamed Abdallah is a dermatologist.

Dr Mohamed Hafez is a neurosurgeon and a founding member of the Doctor's Network. Dr Hafez has been instrumental in recruiting physicians and others to assist refugees and asylum seekers in Egypt, and has cared for many himself.

Dr Ali El Mofti's specialization is in orthopaedic surgery. He has seen kindly seen several refugee clients with bone traumas and preformed surgery on a refugee who sustained a serious injury in detention in his own country.

Dr Samir Motawy is the director of the oncology unit at Elsalam Oncology Center.

Dr Ramses Tewfik specializes in urology and has assisted a number of AMERA’s clients with kidney concerns.

Dr. Wael Tosson is a urology specialist.

Dr Samah Salama is a cardiovascular surgeon.

Dr Sherif Zazou specializes in ophthalmology.

Dr. Hassan Hosney is a neurologist.

Dr. Sherief Nasry specializes in plastic surgery, but also sees cases for general surgery.

Dr. Dia A. Elsebail, D.D.S., is a dentist who has worked with refugees regarding dental needs.

Dr. Abdelhakam Soliman specializes in dermatology and sexually transmitted diseases.

Dr. Ahmed Regaa Abdul Hamid Ragab is a WHO consultant who works in reproductive health.
